The Alabama Pioneers take great pride in our Centennial year national awards for accomplishments in 2010/2011. The Alabama Chapter will put forth every effort to continue this legacy and commitment so that we can continue to respond to the ever changing needs of our communities. The chapter theme for this year is ALIVE AND WELL IN 2012. We will focus on educating children on nutrition and healthy lifestyles, veterans, and healing our state through our environmental efforts.
 | | Education: We will continue to work with mentoring, job shadowing, literacy programs and | | | we will work with schools regarding nutrition and healthy lifestyles. We hosted KidSpark for 2012 at Bessemer High School in January this year, plans are in place to expand Calling all Teachers to Sawyerville, Phil Campbell, Tuscaloosa, Hackleburg, and the Huntsville area in order to touch the communities that suffered great loss from the tornado damage in April 2011.

 | | Veterans/Military: We will continue to work with 3 Hots and a Cot, Veterans homes across the | | | state, Lakeshore Hospital to support the wounded warriors, Hero’s Banquet, volunteer for Lima Foxtrot with the Lakeshore Foundation, and Habitat for Humanity homes for veterans. We assisted South Cahaba with the 25th year Wheel Chair Basketball Pioneer Classic in January this year.

 | | Environmental: We will partner with the Alabama Forestry Service in *Trees of Tribute to | | | replace some of the lost or damaged trees from the numerous tornadoes we experienced statewide last spring, we will partner with Auntie Litter in the Take Pride State Wide initiative, and the Boy Scouts in Leave No Trace (when you leave your campsite no one knows you were there).

 | | Health and Human Resources: We will introduce an Anti Bullying Campaign to address bullying | | | issues in the classroom for children. We will also work with our Pioneer members to Get Moving in 2012.
