AT&T Pioneers ‘light up’ Georgia

NORCROSS — Nineteen AT&T Georgia Pioneers councils and clubs visited low-income senior centers and housing
throughout the state in August to install and distribute more than 2,000 compact fluorescent light bulbs and hand
out environmental information.

Low-income seniors were targeted because they are unlikely to have the funds to purchase the bulbs or the
understanding as to why CFLs are beneficial. By distributing the bulbs free of charge, the Georgia Pioneers
demonstrated the benefits and hoped to change the seniors’ future light bulb purchasing decisions.

The Decatur/Tucker Life Member Club installed and distributed 100 bulbs at 40 apartments in Norcross. The
apartments are owned by the Norcross Housing Authority.

Additionally, the Norcross City Council issued a proclamation declaring August “Light Up Georgia” Month.
