Shoebox for Soldiers Pilot
Program
Coinciding with National Pioneer Week, Pioneers across Mississippi will be preparing
boxes to be shipped to deployed soldiers on November 7th.  Concentrating on our
military base locations, the specific preparation locations will be Columbus, Gulfport,
Hattiesburg, and Meridian.  If you would like to volunteer, contact information is listed
below for each site.

For employees not located near a preparation site, and still want to participate in this
very worthwhile project, a project tee shirt is offered.  By purchasing a tee shirt,
employees and friends support the shipping of a shoe box to a soldier.

With the holidays right around the corner, what better way to show our support of our
military personnel?

To volunteer in a specific area on November 7th, please contact:

Items that can be shipped in the shoeboxes

Personal care items:

tablet    Puzzle books, crossword, etc    DVD movies,     CD of music      Flat, single size sheet    Small games,    stuffed animals, etc. for them or the kids over
there!    Blank cards (birthday, etc) for them to send home to friends and family

Food:
Fruit cups    Drink Mix - individual ones to go in water bottles   Jerky   Dry soup mix   Dried fruit   Fruit snacks   Pringles / chips in hard containers   Instant
cereal  Small individual cereal boxes    Bags of snacks (small cookies, etc.) Package of tuna   Gum     Coffee     Powdered coffee creamer    Granola  or
power bars     Trail mix   Candy - hard candy in the summer and CHOCOLATE in the cool months   Peanuts    Pop tarts    Microwavable popcorn

I also put notes that people write to them.  Letters from kids also go over big.  People should leave the envelopes UNSEALED (for security purposes) and if
they put their return address on them, some will get answering notes.

NO AEROSOL CANS - they tend to explode in the heat over there.  Also, THINK SMALL sizes!  A BIG package of wet wipes means less room to pack other
things.  They can carry small packs with them on missions.
