The Telecom Pioneers were founded in 1911 with 734 original
members including Alexander Graham Bell.  Today at AT&T, this
diverse group includes over 350,000 active and retired employees
throughout the United States.

AT&T Pioneer volunteers are employees and retirees of AT&T who
believe providing community service is as important as providing
exceptional customer service.  Over 6,660 current and retired
employees are members of the Oklahoma Chapter #41 and during
2007 donated over 264,537 hours of volunteer service to the citizens of
Oklahoma.

Pioneer volunteers seek to improve the quality of life in the communities
where we live and do business.  We identify critical needs, address
those needs through a wide variety of community service projects, and
are well-known for providing highly skilled volunteers.

With a keen focus on education, the goal of AT&T Pioneers is to help
children gain skills they need today which will enable them to become
the leaders of tomorrow.  Education projects sponsored by Pioneers
include painting giant US maps on elementary school playgrounds to
help make geography fun, teaching Junior Achievement classes,
mentoring at-risk students and encouraging them to stay in school in
order to graduate,  providing school supplies to teachers and students
through Adopt-A-School program, making and distributing Hug-A-
Bears to be given to children in crisis, teaching young children how to
call 911 utilizing a 911 Simulator, and many other projects.

Other key projects that the Pioneers in Oklahoma participate in is
“Haunt the Zoo” which provides a safe and secure place for children in
Oklahoma City to enjoy Halloween, sewing heart pillows for breast
cancer patients in area hospitals recovering from surgery. In Tulsa,
Pioneers work at the Food Bank, and at Lake Texoma, the Life
Member’s club sells lemonade at many events including the National
Sand Bass Festival.  Any time of the year you will find Pioneers helping
throughout the state.

We know you will make many new friends in the Pioneer organization.
