Making a difference in local communities
Debbie Pyle
Vice President - AT&T Pioneers
Pioneers across the nation celebrated National Volunteer Week
and Earth Day this past April, inviting fellow Pioneers and co-
workers to join in the efforts.

Here are a few highlights:
• Pioneers held 40+ job shadow events at AT&T locations - during
National Volunteer Week alone!
• Missouri Pioneers assisted AT&T External Affairs in distributing
174,000 CFL light bulbs to residents of St. Peters, MO.
• Twenty-one AT&T Pioneers chapters led cell phone recycling
drives during the month of April - which help support our troops
overseas through Cell Phones For Soldiers AND keep e-waste out
of landfills.
• Florida Pioneers manned an exhibit displaying AT&T
sustainability efforts, signing up AT&T customers for paperless
billing and recycling cell phones.

Thank you to all volunteers for making a difference in your
community. I'm so proud of the impact that Pioneers continue to
make. In fact, in 2009 AT&T employees and retirees donated 8.5
million hours of time, worth more than $176 million, to community
outreach activities - most of it led by the AT&T Pioneers.

Thanks for all that you do!
